exploring all options

One reason I chose this school (besides the fact that I liked their interdisciplinary program) is that it has many ties to government agencies (USGS, EPA, NREL, etc.) I assumed this would be useful when it came time to, say, find a post-doctoral position. What I didn’t realize is that grad students are allowed to have a primary thesis advisor based at one of these agencies.

Am corresponding with a scientist right now about research possibilities at USGS–stuff that really interests me. Whee!!!!
